Our Academic Focus
At Little Feet Montessori School, we are dedicated to ensuring that children develop strong reading and math skills from an early age, guided by the Montessori philosophy. By the age of 6, our students achieve the ability to read, spell, and write at a Grade 3 level, giving them a solid literacy foundation that many children who struggle in later years often miss. Our focus on these formative skills ensures that our students are confident, independent readers and writers early on, preventing the learning gaps that can occur when this foundation is weak.
In mathematics, our students master all four operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division—and excel in skip counting and route counting up to 1,000. These critical math skills, often weak in children who struggle academically, are developed early and thoroughly, providing a strong foundation for future learning. Through hands-on materials and real-world application, children at Little Feet Montessori School internalize these fundamental concepts and are able to solve complex problems independently.
Founded by Shaheen Khalfan, a Montessorian with over 25 years of experience, Little Feet Montessori School ensures that children master essential skills in reading and math during the most critical formative years. Our curriculum integrates key Montessori components:
Prepared Environment: A thoughtfully designed space that encourages children to engage with learning materials independently.
Hands-On Learning: Montessori materials such as sandpaper letters, number rods, and golden beads allow children to internalize abstract concepts through sensory experiences.
Self-Paced Learning: Students work at their own pace, building the confidence to master subjects without external pressure.
Mixed-Age Classrooms: Collaboration with older peers fosters leadership, while younger students benefit from natural peer guidance.
The Benefits of Montessori Learning:Independence: Our students develop the ability to manage their workload and explore new concepts without constant teacher intervention.
Critical Thinking: The Montessori method nurtures strong problem-solving abilities through exploration and self-discovery.
Love for Learning: By allowing children to follow their interests, we foster a natural curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.
By mastering the fundamental skills in reading and math, Little Feet Montessori School ensures that our students avoid the struggles many children face later in their educational journey. With a solid foundation, they become independent, confident learners capable of academic success throughout their school years.
